L.U.N.A. (Latinos Unidos de Nueva Orleans en Acción)

is a grassroots, multi-racial youth coalition that builds the power and participation of young people working together to develop creative solutions to problems that directly affect them. Youth members embrace a holistic approach to social change by focusing on changing both systems and hearts and minds. The coalition builds youth empowerment through a combination of creative expression and informed social action. Youth members work together to develop innovative and actionable solutions to building a more open, inclusive, and equitable world. Since launching in March 2018, youth members have identified the following salient issues & concerns: EQUITY & IMMIGRANTS RIGHTS.

IYEF was inspired by the Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference (IYEC) at UCLA, which for over 12 years has brought together hundreds of immigrant youth and their families thanks to the efforts of undocumented students of the IDEAS student organization.

Since 2018, immigrants, allies, and a number of local organizations, including ECCO, PUENTES, Delgado Community College, and Alas, have come together to organize our forum, share knowledge, and fundraise for our scholarship program. Join us, we can use all the help we can get!

IYEF es una labor de cariño basada en Nueva Orleans, la cual reune a organizaciones, juventud inmigrante, y otres activistas de la comunidad. Somos la única organización de base en Luisiana que apoya a jóvenes indocumentades en sus metas educativas y profesionales.

IYEF fue inspirado por la Conferencia de empoderamiento de jóvenes inmigrantes (IYEC, por sus siglas en inglés) en UCLA. IYEC ha reunido a cientos de jóvenes inmigrantes y sus familias por más de 12 años, gracias al trabajo de estudiantes indocumentades de la organización IDEAS.

Desde el 2018, inmigrantes, aliades, y vairas organizaciones locales, incluyendo ECCO, Puentes, Delgado Community College, y Alas, se han coordinado para organizar nuestro foro, compartir conocimiento, y recaudar fondos para nuestro programa de becas. ¡Únete a nosotres, necesitamos toda la ayuda que se nos pueda brindar!
