About The Dress:

(To be unveiled September 15th)

La Libertad y Colores del Immigrante!

Donde corre el rojo, blanco y el azul corren las lágrimas de mi país

The Bluedrops on the dress represent the tears our families shed when leaving their families and friends behind for a better future in America.

The red, white and blue represent freedom. It always has, no matter who's President

The wings are to continue pursuing your dream; wings of freedom. The colors represent the various nationalities in this very colorful America.

The skirt is heavy and has many layers, and represents the pain of carrying the weight of want and need for a better life.  It's heavy to think of others who want to join us in this freedom in America but cannot get the opportunity to do so. The freedom to dream for a better future!

The colors of my country are Blue and White, but our American flag carries the red to represent the blood and sweat of those that came before us. Other immigrants who fought and are still fighting for a better future for their children!

Carolina Gallop immigrated from Honduras to Boston, MA at the age of 14. She grew up and was educated in Boston. She then moved to California and while there she studied Fashion Design and Photography.

Carolina moved to New Orleans in 1996 and started creating and showcasing her fashions at various establishments in and around the New Orleans area, starting at what was then the newly opened Fashion Café.  She has since gone on to host many fashion show events and fundraisers. When Hurricane Mitch touched down in her beloved Country of Honduras, she started the "Fashion Designers and Artist United for Honduras" Fashion show fundraisers.  Carolina invited many other Fashion Design artists, musicians, poets, cabaret performers, and more to participate in her shows. She raised funds and collected clothing to send to Honduras. She was at the forefront of the Fashion Design scene in New Orleans. She also participated in the first Fashion Week NOLA event held in New Orleans yearly.

Carolina is very passionate about the clothes she creates. She's also passionate about teaching others "the art of sewing". She's been a sewing instructor for over 14 years and teaches sewing to adults and children so that the art will not be lost.
