Artist Statement:

Mr. Jackson’s style of artwork is best described as a mixture of: silhouette and negative space art. He chose that style because he likes the boldness and sharpness it brings to an image as well as the look of it. He also likes to incorporate broken glass into some of his artwork and the use of Sharpie markers, along with other mediums to enhance the images to create a 3D effect. He gets inspiration from current events, people he encounters, and of course, the culture of the city he loves, New Orleans!

Artist Biography:

Mr. Carnell Jackson, a New Orleans native, entrepreneur, USMC veteran and self-taught artist. Prior to producing these pieces of art, he really had no interest in drawing or painting. It was only during the Covid pandemic that he discovered his artistic talent, while he and his son sat together at the kitchen table to practice their drawing and for bonding time. As months progressed, Mr. Jackson noticed his skills were really improving and, in addition to that, it was a very relaxing hobby for him. Drawing and painting is now his passion and a hobby he thoroughly enjoys.

Being a novice artist, he is honored at this opportunity and hopes others will find enjoyment in viewing his pieces. Mr. Jackson’s greatest reward in sharing his completed artwork is the inspiration he hopes it gives others to explore their hidden talents.
