I was born and raised in New Orleans. While growing up I was often sent to spend the summer in Nicaragua with my family. I looked like them but I did not fit in because of the language barrier and my American ways. 

It wasn’t any different here in New Orleans. “Nolita” explores the pain I felt as a young girl seeking friendship and acceptance. 

“Is this the land of dreams?” is a compare and contrast as a mother looks at life between the old country and the new. 

The theme Estado de Los Unidos y La Migración del Arte  hit home as I looked into the mirror of my past and dealt with issues of identity that I continue to struggle with today.
